John Lennon will be 70 on Saturday

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Thanks, Dee...makes me tearful....have we all lost our ability to imagine...to hope? It is a quintessential poem. All hope, all imagining falls short without protest, and political action. Lennon painted a dream that is in the heart of many people worldwide. But, it is like a dying flame....Blow on the embers people, and a happy birthday to John Lennon. His life cut short by the very stupidity he was trying to rise above.

Dearly Departed Man, you are "not the only one." Happy Birthday. Your spirit and message lives and breathes among us...
