Unfolding the Mystery

by Dee Newman

We’ve all imagined and entertained
frightening thoughts and dreams that inflame
passions, whose mere memory, have stained
our not so innocent cheeks with shame.

Once we start thinking of other’s sorrow
and less of our own preservation,
our consciousness will undergo
a truly heroic transformation.

Trying to unfold the Mystery
through Revelation is a bit arcane,
for every god of history
was formed and fashioned within a brain.

The hidden wonder of existence
is not our salvation through His grace,
but the courage and confidence
to confront the self – face to face.

To stand alone against the onslaught
of ignorance, bigotry and fear
and aim for harmony in thought,
word and deed is what we ought to revere.
