Phillip Seymour Hoffman Dies

Yesterday, Phillip Seymour Hoffman was found dead of an apparent drug-overdose by his friend, playwright David Bar Katz, in the bathroom of Hoffman's West Village, Manhattan office-apartment. He was 46 years old.

He was survived by his partner Mimi O'Donnell and three children.

Mr. Hoffman was not only an Academy Award winner for his portrayal of Truman Capote, but one of the leading actors of his generation both on stage and screen. He was a remarkable and gifted artist who appeared in some of my favorite movies.

Its really sad that someone of his stature could slip through the cracks...he probably was hiding his addiction and thus there was no one there to call for help when he began o-d-ing....what a loss.

What a beautiful portrait!

It's so sad what goes on inside peoples' brains. The self-talk that leads to these addictions to substances and behaviors we use to feel better, or less empty, or less lonely, or less self-hatred, or less on the outs, one could go on and on...
