I have no argument in principle, of course. And as far as the global future is concerned, meat is on its way out. But, I do eat meat. Not as much as before, but yes. I grew up amongst farmers, my grandmother killed the chicken we had for dinner. Granddaddy slaughtered hogs, or brought home squirrel. That's just the way life was, and I thought nothing of watching a headless dying chicken hanging on a clothesline, bleeding out. Or a hog on a gallows, of sorts, being gutted. So, for awhile, I too, hunted small game. I no longer do. I no longer have the stomach for it. I used to eat squirrel, but now think of them as my backyard mischief makers. And this weekend, I am going to Sam and Mal's 'Veggie Bungalow' for a veggie lunch...so, I will leave it at that...I try. But, old habits are deeply rooted.
