Providence, RI – August 7, 2011 –
The rain began late Saturday night and kept falling. Despite a constant downpour throughout the day, more than 7,000 folks ran the inaugural Rock 'n' Roll Providence Half Marathon last Sunday.
Providence College graduate Kim Smith running on familiar streets, won the women’s race easily in 1:11:54 saying at the end:
This was not an easy course, but surprisingly flat for Providence . . . I haven’t competed here in about ten years and I enjoy running Rock ‘n’ Roll races. This was my first real training run for New York. The conditions weren’t ideal because of the rain, but I had fun.In the men’s race Ethiopians Kumsa Adugna Megersa and Tesfaye Assefa Dube pulled ahead together about half way through the race. The two are best friends and roommates in the Bronx, New York, where they train with the Westside YMCA. Megersa would take the win at 1:07:32, with Dube trailing by 18 seconds at 1:07:50.
The Competitor Group out of San Diego, CA, hire us to coordinate the water stations for five of their event. We will be in Philadelphia, PA, next month.

That is so cool. What a great way to travel the country. Does this mean you will be in Philly soon? I love that town!
