What an amazing study abroad program . . . an experience of a lifetime! I am so envious.
Anyone who decides to follow Alex's "encounters at the edge of a sidewalk in motion" will be glad they did. She is an incredibly intelligent, gifted and beautiful young women who I have known since she was born. I for one am looking forward to accompanying her around the world.
She just arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil from Detroit, Michigan. She is staying with a 31-year-old single mom (a public health journalist) with a 4-year-old daughter who Alex says "is adorable" and who "constantly talks to [her] in Portugese even though [Alex has] no idea what she is saying." They live (according to Alex) "in an artsy, bohemian, upper-middle class, fun neighborhood in Sao Paulo, comparable in some ways to the west village in New York."
In early October Alex will be in Cape Town, South Africa and then to Hanoi, Vietnam on November 15. So, if you are up for an adventure, put on your walking-shoes and come follow Alex's encounters at the edge of a sidewalk in motion.
