Adriene Rich Dies
The feminist poet and essayist, Adriene Rich, died Tuesday at her home in Santa Cruz. She was 82. She was best known as an advocate of women's rights, but she was also a passionate writer for the antiwar movement, as well as, a defender of the marginalized and underprivileged.

Wonderful! I have made so-called art maybe to match the decor of someone's house or the upholstery of their couches. It made a living, but I have always felt that art should be the expression of the truest politic. In this she was in the avant garde! A model for others to come, I hope.
