1. They credit their vegan diet for their health, wellness and energy.
2. They love animals. Ugh.
3. Some of them even look cute as a button!
4. They care about the Earth—those jerks!
5. They mislead you with their food…wicked, tricksy, false!
6. They are so demanding….why can’t they just enjoy bacon like normal people!
7. Such elitists….spending all their money on veggies!
8. Worst of all…science and medicine supports them!
* By-the-way, I'm not a vegan for any of the above reasons. I'm a vegan because I'm a moral creature. I have the ability to choose one action over another. The fundamental principle of morality is the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If I do not want other sentient beings to disregard my needs and interests to fulfill their wanton desires, then I should not disregard their needs and interests to fulfill my wanton desires. It is that simple. Morality cannot be arbitrary.
The Golden Rule does not demand that one be a hero, to give up ones needs and interest for the needs and interests of others. But, it does require one to give up their wanton desires for the needs and interests of others. If eating other animals was necessary in order to maintain ones health, then that would be interests against interest. But, it is not necessary. In fact, the opposite is true. Eating other animals is detrimental to maintaining optimal health. I am living proof. I have been a vegan for over 40 years.
